Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning To Start But Haven’t. Starting a series can definitely be a struggle, but sometimes it’s continuing the series that is the problem! So I created a list of series that I need to start or finish.
Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start
YES, I KNOW.
I bought the ebook of this a good while ago and really need to read it.
YES, I KNOW. And I’ve had this ebook for a while as well.
I want to read all of C.S. Lewis’s works, though admittedly I have not made a great effort towards this. I hardly ever see this trilogy anywhere, but I definitely want to read it.
I’m sensing a pattern with these ebook acquisitions…
Series I’ve Been Meaning to Continue
For this, I made the criteria be that the next book in the series that I haven’t read yet needs to have been our for more than a year.
I enjoyed the first book, even though I wasn’t expecting the paranormal aspect, and really have wanted to read on.
I’ve read the first two Gallagher Girls books but haven’t made it to #3 yet.
I am less and less certain if I really want to continue & finish this series, but part of me kind of does.
Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
When I read the first book, I thought it would feel like a standalone, but it does leave off in a sort of strange spot, clearly setting up for the second book. Since I think of the movie version more though, I haven’t been real motivated to pick up The Restaurant at the End of the Universe though I want to.
I enjoyed the first book a lot, and then I pretty promptly moved on with my life. So will I read on? We’ll see.
Bonus: Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes
I read the first book of this series, The Beekeeper’s Apprentice, in college, and didn’t realize it was the beginning of a series. But then my then-boyfriend now husband continued to collect and read the books, and I have yet to continue despite enjoying the first book and knowing how he’s enjoyed the others.
Which series have you been meaning to start or finish?
I have the CS Lewis space trilogy and what I believe to be the full Hitchhiker’s Guide series in physical form if you ever want to borrow either.
As for the REAL elephant in the room, do you REALLY know? 😉
For something I haven’t read? Is it LOTR or something not on this list? Now I’m concerned…
It was LOTR, lol. 🙂 I’d offer to loan you that too, but I know that it is available MUCH closer to you already, haha.
I was worried for a moment that I had missed something else that was supposed to be obvious, ha ha.
The Lord of the Rings. Huh I wonder if those are any good, haven’t heard of those. Okay ha ha i know. I do want to read Marie Lu though. And I never made it all th way through Hitchhiker’s Guide- isn’t that awful? So many people love it. Maybe I need to give it another try…
Great list.
It sounds pretty cool, I guess, ha ha. And I don’t think that’s awful… I haven’t been able to get through every popular book I’ve tried to read either.
The Percy Jackson books are so much fun, I hope you enjoy them!

I feel like I am the same way with purchasing ebooks for starts of series then never getting to them!
I’ve been meaning to read the Lightning Thief as well. Riordan’s ginormous fan base can’t be wrong and those hilarious chapter names definitely make it an appealing purchase. I tend to struggle with middle grade books though.

I’m the same way with MG typically, but I got through the beginning of HP fine, so I would like to think I could do the same with Percy Jackson.
