Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Today’s topic is Top Ten Books On My Spring 2014 TBR List. Is it just me, or is spring the shortest season ever? It technically starts in March and ends in June, but in Tennessee spring is basically a few random days in March, all of April, and the beginning of May. Then the summer heat comes and stays until usually October. Which believe me, I am not complaining about. I’ll take the heat over the cold any day. Anyhow, all that to say, I doubt I’ll read ten books this spring, and I doubt I’ll read all of these, as everything is always subject to change. But here are the next ten books I am at least aiming to read (list in order of when I will hypothetically read these books)…
1. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Does it count if it’s my current read? Well, I just started it. And it’s easier for me if I do, OK?
2. The Distant Hours by Kate Morton
This was loaned to me a couple of months ago and I have no interest in it, but I feel I just need to read it and return it. Who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I hope so.
3. Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
Because I seriously need to read Brandon Sanderson and this has been patiently waiting in my Nook.
4. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
I won this one almost a year ago and still haven’t read it. But I will read it this spring.
5. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
I got this one for my birthday last year and still haven’t read it. And no, I didn’t make it #5 just to be funny.
6. Split Second by Kasie West
I don’t have this one in my possession yet, but I want to get it and read it soon!
7. The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
Because after a long kick of YA it’ll be good to delve into something completely different, and though I just got it for Christmas (thanks husband!), I’ve been meaning to read it FOREVER.
8. The Partials by Dan Wells
I got this one for my birthday last year, and since the whole series is out now, there’s really no reason to wait any longer to read it!
9. & 10. Wildcard Possibilities…
This is a total cheat, but there are a number of books that I have been thinking about checking out from the library, and these are among them, so it’s very possible I might read two of any of these books. Or something completely different, you know.
What’s on your spring TBR list?
*Insert generic “9 and 10 should be Redeeming Love and Harry Potter” post here.*
I know, I really need to read both of them.
What a great list! A lot of these I have yet to read as well. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Glad I’m not the only one playing catch-up!
I just finished Split Second and really, really liked it. In that same vein, The Distance Between Us! I seriously adore Kacie West and at this point would highly recommend anything she writes.
I would not recommend Redeeming Love. I like some of Francine Rivers other books (mostly the first two Mark of the Lion) but I just really didn’t love that one.
I’m kind of curious about Austenland because I like Shannon Hale and there’s the whole movie but it’s pretty far down on my tbr pile.
I have had so many friends recommend Redeeming Love to me, so I’m surprised you didn’t like it too much.
I look forward to reading more Kasie West, since I enjoyed Pivot Point and everyone loves her other books!
Ooh, ooh, nice list! I can’t wait for you to read Ready Player One and Steelheart! I plan to read Tandem this month, too, so I hope you read it soon. Then I’ll have someone to talk with about it! I’m also curious what you’ll think about The 5th Wave and Split Second. Both of those are on my TBR but it’ll probably be a while before I get to them.
I’m enjoying Ready Player One so far; the world is interesting!
The Screwtape Letters is one of my favorite books! I read it when I was 14, and it totally changed my perspective on life. And Steelheart, as you know, is one of my favorites as well. I really hope you love it!
Sometime in high school I read a book called The Veritas Conflict that had snippets before chapters a la The Screwtape Letters, while also telling the story of a girl attending Harvard as a freshman and it was really fascinating! I’ve also read many portions of The Screwtape Letters, but I am ready to read it from start to finish!
I am excited to hear your thoughts on Steelheart. I am seeing it everywhere and I am intrigued!
I say definitely include what you are reading right now. It is hard to get everything in.
Brandon Sanderson first come onto my radar because I was listening to his podcast, but then I started seeing everyone talking about him so when I saw the e-book for Steelheart I had to get it! I’m hoping to love it as much as everyone else seems to!
I just got Steelheart on my audible account…looking forward to reading it, too! And I really enjoyed Ready Player One – so many fun 80s references! Good luck fitting all these books in! 😉
There are a lot of fun references in Ready Player One, even if I don’t know them all, it’s still a lot of nerdy goodness!
I cannot wait to read Split Second, and have been meaning to get my hands on Steelheart (actually I had it checked out from the library for over a month, but just couldn’t squeeze it in). I tried to watch Austenland and it was atrocious. I don’t know how closely it follows the book, but I realized I hadn’t been paying attention for at least 10 minutes over halfway through the movie and decided to just stop watching it. Also, um, read HP. 🙂 Great list!
I hope the book isn’t as bad as the movie then! Several people seem to like Shannon Hale and I love Austen stories so I thought it might be fun to try out. And believe me, I understand having a book on you for a while and not being able to squeeze it in!
Steelheart was my first experience with Brandon Sanderson too, and after that I was hooked! As soon as I finished flailing over it I bought the Mitosis companion story and devoured it as well. (Mitosis was okay, maybe not worth paying for.) But Steelheart… man oh man it inspired me to start drafting *so many* posts because I absolutely love the world it’s set in. I just need to re-read and touch up on my notes so I can actually write them all up. 🙂
Your #5 note made me laugh! 😀
Have you not read the Harry Potter books yet? I thought I wa the only one! And I constantly feel terrible about it because I have book 1 sitting on my shelf.
Yep, still haven’t read HP! There is a very small group of us.
