My Top 10 Anticipated Films of 2016

I was considering whether or not to create this list since I rarely actually watch all the movies on these lists, but my husband made this just about one of the easiest posts for me to write by providing me with his list. I literally changed one movie, rearranged the order, and presto, my list was born. Plus, I think I actually will watch all these movies unless they are universally panned.

1o. The 5th Wave

I probably won’t see this in the theater, but I’m hoping it’ll be good enough for a Redbox rental. The thing I’m most excited about with this adapatation is seeing Liev Schreiber because that casting was perfect.

9. Independence Day: Resurgence

When I heard this was happening I groaned, but then I saw the trailer and thought, wow, this looks legit…

8. X-Men: Apocalypse

I mean, it’s X-Men, so I’ll watch it.

7. Untitled Next Bourne Chapter

This is another Matt Damon Bourne film as opposed to Jeremy Renner, and that’s about all we know. I love the Jeremy Renner one most, but I’ll still excited about this one.

6. Star Trek Beyond

I’m really hoping this will be OK since this movie’s gone through about 10 directors.

5. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I don’t know what this is about except Star Wars, obviously. And not to be confused with Episode VIII. Felicity Jones is also starring and I really liked her in The Theory of Everything.

4. Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch + Marvel = winning.

3. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Eddie Redmayne + J.K. Rowling = also winning.

2. Finding Dory

Because how can I resist this?

1. Captain America: Civil War

Even though I found the first trailer wanting, I know I’m going to eat this up.

What movies are you looking forward to in 2016?

  1. Well, I’m obviously excited for “Fantastic Beasts” and the new “Avengers.” We just watched “Ant-Man” tonight so I’m prepared! 😉 I’m also looking forward to “Doctor Strange” and “The 5th Wave.” Although we currently live in the exact place where it’s set and my husband works at the Air Force base in the book — so I’m sure I’ll be picking the entire setting apart!

  2. I’m a Marvel fan so I’m looking forward to Civil War, X-Men, and Dr. Strange. But I’m also curious to the DC effort Batman vs. Superman.

    • I’m pretty much boycotting Ben Affleck Batman. Not so much because I won’t give the guy a shot as much as Nolan set me up for a future Batman venture with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but instead we get another freaking reboot. Boooo.

      • I can understand that. I don’t know if Nolan is interested in doing another Batman movie but I understand that his trilogy isn’t in the same universe as Superman vs. Batman.

Oh and I forgot “Zootopia” and “the Secret life of Pets”.

  3. You’ve got my top films in your list! Star Trek is probably tops because even though the trailer was disappointing, I have a lot of hope in Simon Pegg, and I think the story will be great! *hopes* X-Men is next cause I love Fassbender *ahem* and it also sounds like a great story. Fantastic Beasts is going to be so exciting too!

And there are two films, I didn’t start anticipating until I read your post – I forgot Finding Dory was coming out this year, but thanks to you, I’m eager to see it 😀 And I have no idea who or what Doctor Strange is, but I’m on board with anything Cumberbatch! That’s an interesting looking promo pic!

  4. I am keen for practically everything on this list!

Although I must say that the trailer for the new Star Trek movie left me a little unsatisfied, to be honest. It just looked like a generic action movie but set in space :/ Which is so sad because Into Darkness is one of my favourite movies 🙁

I actually saw the trailer for Deadpool yesterday and it looks like it’ll be pretty entertaining. So I’m looking forward to that one now, too.

Ah, CAPTAIN AMERICA!!! That is pretty much my #1 anticipated movie of the year *screaming* S T U C K Y

    • I agree about the Star Trek trailer, it did look like a very generic action film! Hopefully they’re just marketing it that way to appeal to the masses but it’ll actually be better than that.
